Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh) [India]: The Sanatana Dharma Sansad, convened by spiritual leader Devkinandan Thakurji Maharaj at the ongoing Maha Kumbh, laid the groundwork on Monday for the establishment of a Sanatan Hindu Board. The event witnessed prominent Hindu religious leaders strongly advocating for the board’s creation.
Swami Ashutoshanand emphasized the urgency of the matter, stating, “Today the Hindus of the country are awakened through the media. This is the right time to get a Sanatan Board. It is our right to form a Sanatan Board.”
Swami Chinmayananda criticized the Waqf Board, alleging overreach. “The Waqf Board has taken over the country. Some fools have claimed that the land of Kumbh is also theirs. Now there is a need for a Sanatan Board,” he remarked.
Shriji Maharaj declared that the establishment of the Sanatan Board would shape India’s future. “If we do not unite and protect the nation today, there will be a problem. We are demanding the Sanatan Board for the protection of Sanatan Sanskriti for our families. All those demanding it are revolutionaries,” he stated.
Swami Vidyabhaskar highlighted the potential impact of the board, saying, “A Sanatan Board will help us get back our temples. Formation of the Sanatan Board is necessary for the nation and Sanatani people.”
Draft Proposal for the Sanatan Board
During the Dharam Sansad, a draft proposal for the Sanatan Board was presented and unanimously approved by the religious leaders. The proposed Sanatan Hindu Board aims to:
- Manage, protect, and oversee Hindu temples, properties, and endowments.
- Ensure the maintenance and preservation of Vedic Sanatan traditions and worship systems.
- Include individuals who are devoted to Hinduism and committed to serving Sanatan traditions.
The board is envisioned as an independent body responsible for safeguarding the cultural and spiritual heritage of Hinduism.
Address by Devkinandan Thakurji Maharaj
Devkinandan Thakur underscored the importance of unity among Sanatanis to protect their traditions. “The Dharma Sansad has been called to safeguard Sanatanis and provide a new direction to the Sanatan world. The kind of arbitrariness that has been done by the Waqf Board…we all know what Waqf Board is doing. If Kumbh, Parliament, and the airport belong to them, what is it that belongs to you?” he questioned.
Next Steps
The Dharam Sansad plans to present the draft proposal to the government for consideration, with the hope of securing official approval for the Sanatan Hindu Board.
