Sanjay Raut Slams Government for Undermining Constitutional Principles

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Accuses Government of Weakening Key Institutions and Alleged Ties to Corrupt Leaders

New Delhi, December 16: Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut launched a scathing attack on the central government, accusing it of working against the principles of the Indian Constitution and undermining critical democratic institutions.

Addressing the media, Raut alleged that bodies such as the judiciary, Parliament, the Election Commission of India (ECI), and Raj Bhavan—tasked with safeguarding the Constitution—are instead operating under pressure from Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“The present government is working against the Constitution of India. Today, there will be a discussion on the Constitution in the Rajya Sabha, but key institutions meant to be its guardians are acting in ways that do not serve the nation’s interest,” Raut said.

“Constitution in Danger”

Raut warned that the government, if given an overwhelming majority, might push for constitutional changes.
“If the government had won more than 400 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, the topic of discussion would have been ‘Why is it necessary to change the Constitution?’ In a country where the judiciary and the Election Commission work under political pressure, the Constitution is at risk,” he stated.

Attack on PM Modi’s Anti-Corruption Claims

Raut also questioned PM Modi’s sincerity in tackling corruption, accusing him of tolerating business magnate Gautam Adani despite claims of zero tolerance.
“Ask your 56-inch chest how many corrupt people are around me? PM Modi tolerates Adani but talks about zero tolerance towards corruption. He never practices what he preaches,” Raut remarked.

Criticism of Maharashtra Leaders

The Shiv Sena (UBT) MP further targeted Maharashtra Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, alleging corruption within their ranks.
“He (PM Modi) should remove Ajit Pawar from the alliance. He took an oath in your ‘great’ presence. Eknath Shinde is one of the most corrupt leaders, and several of his allies were raided by the CBI and ED. Can you dare to sideline them?” Raut challenged.

Winter Session Chaos

The winter session of Parliament, which began on November 25, has been marked by frequent disruptions and is scheduled to conclude on December 20. Earlier, Raut had criticized PM Modi’s Lok Sabha speech, implying it lacked substance and failed to address pressing issues of corruption.

Conclusion

Sanjay Raut’s remarks add to the growing criticism from opposition parties, who accuse the government of centralizing power and compromising constitutional integrity. As the winter session progresses, the debate over corruption, governance, and institutional autonomy is expected to intensify further.
