Sanjay Raut Criticizes PM Modi Over Film Watching While Adani Issue Remains Unaddressed
New Delhi [India], December 3: Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Tuesday took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, suggesting that while the Prime Minister finds time to watch films, his government avoids discussing the Adani indictment issue.
“Prime Minister has time to watch films, but when we ask to talk about the Adani case, his government runs away. Farmers are protesting at the borders of Delhi and near Noida, yet the Prime Minister refuses to engage with them. Instead, he is going to watch a film with his MPs,” Raut said while speaking to reporters.
Raut also criticized the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance for its inability to finalize a Chief Minister for Maharashtra, despite winning a significant mandate in the recent elections. He pointed out that even 10 days after the poll results, the alliance had not approached the Raj Bhavan to stake a claim for government formation.
“Eknath Shinde is currently the caretaker Chief Minister of Maharashtra, but how can a Chief Minister disappear? Delhi has the CBI, police, RAW, and intelligence agencies. A game is being played in Maharashtra. Even after 10 days and a clear majority, they have not announced the Chief Minister’s name, nor have they gone to Raj Bhavan to stake their claim for forming the government,” Raut added. “This is all a game being orchestrated from Delhi.”
Meanwhile, BJP leader Girish Mahajan met Maharashtra’s caretaker Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Monday. Shinde, who had been suffering from a throat infection and fever, is reportedly recovering well.
Mahajan told reporters that they discussed preparations for the swearing-in ceremony of the next Maharashtra Chief Minister, set for December 5, and reassured that there were no conflicts among the leaders of the Mahayuti alliance.
“I met Eknath Shinde, who has been unwell recently. There is no disagreement among us. We spent an hour together discussing preparations for December 5. We have a lot of work ahead of us for the people of the state, and we are committed to working together,” Mahajan said.
Shinde himself confirmed that he had recovered from the fever and was in good health.
The Mahayuti alliance, led by the BJP, triumphed in the Maharashtra Assembly elections held on November 23, securing a decisive victory. The BJP emerged as the largest party with 132 seats in the 280-member Assembly, while its allies — the Shiv Sena (led by Eknath Shinde) and the NCP (led by Ajit Pawar) — won 57 and 41 seats, respectively.
In contrast, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance suffered a major setback in the elections. Congress won only 16 seats, Shiv Sena (UBT) secured 20 seats, and the Sharad Pawar faction of the NCP won just 10 seats.
