Sanjay Dutt Recounts Chilling Encounter with Double Murder Convict in Jail

Mumbai — In a candid and chilling moment on a recent episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show, Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt shared a powerful story from his time in Yerwada jail. Appearing alongside his close friend Suniel Shetty, the 66-year-old actor recounted an ordinary day in prison that quickly turned into a terrifying experience.

Dutt, who served a five-year sentence for illegal possession of weapons related to the 1993 Mumbai blasts, revealed that jail authorities once asked him to shave his overgrown beard. The task was assigned to another inmate, a man named Mishra. As Mishra held a razor to Dutt’s neck, a casual conversation took a dark turn.

“I asked him, ‘How long have you been in prison?’” Dutt recalled. “He said, ‘Fifteen years.’ I asked him, ‘For what?’ and he said, ‘Double murder.’ My blood ran cold, and I immediately grabbed his hand and stopped him.” The actor’s story left the audience and host Kapil Sharma visibly stunned. He added, “So, a double murder convict had a razor in his hand; it was just an ordinary day in jail.”

Despite this and other harrowing experiences, Dutt told the audience that he has no regrets about his life’s journey. His only regret, he said, is the premature loss of his parents, the legendary actors Sunil Dutt and Nargis, who passed away in 2005 and 1981, respectively.

While in prison, Dutt made a name for himself not just as a prisoner but also as a positive force. He worked as a carpenter, earning wages for making chairs and paper bags. He also hosted a radio show called “Radio YCP” and even started a theatre group, where his “actors” were other murder convicts. His positive behavior and contributions to prison life ultimately led to an early release in 2016.

On the professional front, Dutt was recently seen in the film Baaghi 4 and is currently preparing for several upcoming projects, including The Raja Saab with Prabhas, set to release on October 2, and Dhurandar, with Ranveer Singh, Akshay Khanna, and R Madhavan, which will hit theaters on December 5.
