Washington [US]: Warner Bros. has officially announced the long-awaited sequel to the 1998 cult classic Practical Magic, with Practical Magic 2 slated to enchant theaters on September 18, 2026. Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman will reprise their iconic roles as Sally and Gillian Owens, two witch sisters navigating love, family, and the supernatural.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Susanne Bier and written by Akiva Goldsman—who co-wrote the original script—the sequel aims to recapture the charm and mystique of the first film. Denise Di Novi, who produced the original, will return to produce alongside Bullock and Kidman. Di Novi emphasized the importance of staying true to the heart of the original, noting that sequels often falter when they try to “reinvent the wheel.”
Though plot details remain under wraps, fans are already buzzing about the return of the Owens sisters and the magical world they inhabit. The first film, while receiving mixed reviews upon release, has since garnered a devoted cult following.
Interestingly, Practical Magic 2 will share its release date with another major genre title—the Resident Evil reboot, directed by Zach Cregger.
