Sandeep Dikshit Urges Public Accounts Committee To Address CAG Reports

New Delhi [India], February 25: Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit on Tuesday urged the Public Accounts Committee to take the reports by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) seriously and take appropriate action if any irregularities are found. Dikshit emphasized, “I hope the Public Accounts Committee will thoroughly review the CAG reports and the upcoming ones during the BJP government. If they find any irregularities, I expect action to be taken.”

Dikshit also expressed skepticism regarding the financial feasibility of the promises made in the BJP’s manifesto. He questioned how the BJP planned to allocate Rs 15,000 crore for subsidies without a clear financial plan, especially given the Delhi government’s alleged financial constraints. “The Delhi government has no money, and BJP has promised Rs 15,000 crore in subsidies. It’s unclear where they will get the money from,” Dikshit added.

Furthermore, Dikshit pointed out that there were several areas that required immediate attention. “BJP needs to focus on fundamental work. Some metro lines are almost closed, road construction is lagging, there are no new flyovers, and no new universities. One of my main disappointments is that while they talk about cleaning the Yamuna, air pollution is still not being addressed,” he stated.

In the Delhi Legislative Assembly on Tuesday, CM Rekha Gupta tabled the CAG report on the Excise Policy 2024. Prior to this, the Assembly descended into chaos as Speaker Vijender Gupta suspended 12 AAP MLAs, including Leader of Opposition Atishi and MLA Gopal Rai. AAP members began raising slogans as soon as the Lieutenant Governor (LG) began his address, disrupting the proceedings. Before the LG’s speech, AAP MLAs also chanted “Jai Bhim” slogans, leading to their suspension. The suspended MLAs continued their protest outside the Assembly, carrying posters of Babasaheb Ambedkar and raising slogans against the state government.
