Sandeep Dikshit Calls For Criminal Action Against Kejriwal Over ‘Poisoned Water’ Comment

New Delhi [India], January 28: Sandeep Dikshit, the Congress candidate for the New Delhi Assembly constituency, has called for immediate action against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his colleague Atishi for their controversial statements regarding Delhi’s water supply.

In a letter addressed to the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi and the Delhi Police Commissioner, Dikshit condemned Kejriwal’s recent allegations that Delhi’s water supply had been “poisoned” and accused the Haryana government of planning a “genocide” against Delhi residents.

“I am writing to you to demand strict and immediate action against Arvind Kejriwal for his shocking and irresponsible remarks, alleging that Delhi’s water supply has been ‘poisoned’ and that the Haryana government is planning a ‘genocide’ against the people of Delhi,” Dikshit stated in his letter.

He further criticized the timing of Kejriwal’s statement during the ongoing election campaign, pointing out that while election issues should be discussed, inflammatory statements causing public panic and unfounded accusations against a government cannot be made without proof.

Dikshit also criticized Atishi for supporting these baseless allegations, saying, “Atishi Marlena has also backed Kejriwal’s claims, suggesting that the ‘poisoning’ referred to the PPM count in the Yamuna water.”

He questioned the validity of the claims, asking whether the PPM count in the Yamuna had exceeded the permissible limit for the first time. Dikshit accused Kejriwal and his associates of neglecting water quality issues for the past decade, only to shift the blame to others for electoral gain.

Highlighting the severity of Kejriwal’s accusations, Dikshit said, “Kejriwal’s statement that ‘zeher milaya gaya hai’ implies a deliberate act of poisoning, not just contamination or pollution.”

He warned of the harm such statements could cause, especially to the vulnerable population who may now be compelled to purchase bottled water after hearing these alarming claims.

Dikshit also referenced the Delhi Jal Board’s dismissal of these allegations, urging that their rebuttal should put the matter to rest. He called for an immediate high-level inquiry to verify the truth of Kejriwal and Atishi’s claims, adding that if the allegations were false, criminal charges should be filed against both leaders for spreading misinformation and creating unrest.

In conclusion, Dikshit stressed the urgent need for action to protect Delhi’s residents from false information and to prevent political leaders from misleading the public for electoral gain.
