Samay Raina Appears At Maharashtra Cyber Cell Office In Mumbai

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India]: YouTuber and comedian Samay Raina appeared before Maharashtra Cyber Cell officials on Monday in connection with the ongoing investigation into the ‘India’s Got Latent’ controversy.

In visuals, Raina was seen leaving the Maharashtra Cyber Cell office after recording his statement.

Recently, Raina postponed his India tour amid the controversy, informing fans via Instagram.

“Hello guys, I am rescheduling my India tour. You all will get the refunds shortly, see you soon,” he wrote.

The controversy began after an FIR was filed earlier this month against several YouTubers, including Apoorva Makhija, Ashish Chanchlani, Ranveer Allahbadia, and Samay Raina, for allegedly promoting obscenity and engaging in explicit discussions on their YouTube show.

According to officials, Ashish Chanchlani had already appeared before the Guwahati Crime Branch in February, where his statement was recorded.

Joint Police Commissioner Ankur Jain stated:
“One of the named, Ashish Chanchlani, came to the Crime Branch, and we have recorded his statement… We have allowed him to go as he cooperated with us… He has told us he will appear before us whenever required.”

Jain further mentioned that notices had been served to others named in the FIR, including Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, Apoorva Makhija, and Jaspreet Singh. However, some individuals had not complied yet.

The controversy escalated when Ranveer Allahbadia made offensive remarks during an episode, leading to widespread backlash. He later issued a public apology, acknowledging his mistake.

“My comment wasn’t just inappropriate, it wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte, I am just here to say sorry,” Allahbadia said in a video shared on his X account.

As the legal proceedings continue, Maharashtra Cyber Police have summoned over 30 individuals for questioning, with further action expected based on the investigation.
