Samay Raina Announces ‘Alive and Unfiltered’ India Tour, Sells 40,000 Tickets In An Hour After ‘India’s Got Latent’ Controversy

Mumbai, India – Months after facing significant backlash over his YouTube show India’s Got Latent, comedian Samay Raina is making a strong comeback with his new stand-up comedy tour, “Samay Raina Is Alive And Unfiltered.” The tour, set to kick off on August 15, has already seen an unprecedented response, with Raina announcing that 40,000 tickets were sold within an hour of going live.

Samay Raina took to Instagram on Wednesday to share the news of his first India tour since the India’s Got Latent controversy, writing, “India tour live now on @bookmyshowin.” He later updated fans on his Instagram Stories, expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support: “The love is unreal. We have sold 40,000 tickets in an hour for the tour. That’s a record Thank you so much for the love, we will bring the house down.”

The controversy surrounding India’s Got Latent erupted after an episode featured YouTuber-podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia making what many deemed an inappropriate and offensive joke. This led to widespread public outrage, multiple legal complaints, and the eventual removal of all episodes from Samay Raina’s YouTube channel. Both Raina and Allahbadia faced criticism and legal scrutiny, with the matter still pending.

Despite the recent turbulence, Raina has been actively performing. He recently concluded a global tour that took him across Europe, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand, which ran from June 5 to July 20.

The “Samay Raina Is Alive And Unfiltered” India tour itinerary is as follows:

  • Bengaluru: August 15-17
  • Hyderabad: August 23-24
  • Mumbai: August 30
  • Kolkata: September 6-7
  • Chennai: September 19-20
  • Pune: September 26-28
  • Delhi: October 3-5

This tour marks a significant return to the Indian stage for Raina, who gained popularity as the co-winner of Comicstaan 2 (2019). The rapid ticket sales indicate a strong fan base eagerly awaiting his comeback and new material.
