Samantha Praises Yami Gautam’s Haq, Says Film Made Her Feel ‘Love, Rage and Hope’

Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu has showered praise on Yami Gautam and the team behind the courtroom drama Haq, calling the film a deeply moving and rare cinematic experience. Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, Samantha said the film left her speechless and stirred a range of emotions in her.

Sharing the film’s poster on her Instagram Stories, Samantha applauded Yami Gautam’s portrayal of Shazia Bano, describing it as powerful and layered. “Stories like this are rare. So deeply human. So layered. So free of judgement or bias,” she wrote, adding that Yami’s performance moved her in ways she couldn’t fully explain.

Samantha said the film made her feel “everything, all at once — love, rage, strength, vulnerability and hope,” and praised writer Reshu Nath and director Suparn Verma for telling the story with sensitivity and conviction. Calling Haq the very reason artists choose cinema despite its highs and lows, she expressed gratitude to the entire team.

Earlier, filmmaker Karan Johar and actor Alia Bhatt had also lauded Haq, with Karan describing Yami’s performance as “pathbreaking” and a masterclass in craft.

Directed by Suparn Verma, Haq stars Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi in lead roles, with Sheeba Chaddha in a pivotal part. Inspired by the landmark Supreme Court judgement in the Shah Bano case, the film follows a woman who seeks legal recourse after being denied financial support by her husband. Though it earned modest box office numbers, Haq has found wider appreciation after its Netflix release on January 2.
