New Delhi [India], February 27: Congress Overseas Chief Sam Pitroda has vehemently denied recent media reports alleging illegal land ownership and bribery. In a statement shared on social media, Pitroda asserted that he does not own any land, home, or stocks in India and has never accepted a salary during his tenure with the Indian government. He further claimed that throughout his 83 years of life, he has never paid or accepted a bribe in India or anywhere else.
In his post on X, Pitroda wrote: “Statement for the Record. In light of recent reports in the Indian media, both on television and in print, I wish to categorically state the following: I do not own any land, home, or stocks in India. Additionally, during my tenure working with the Government of India–whether with Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in the mid-1980s or with Dr Manmohan Singh from 2004 to 2014–I have never taken/received any salary.”
Pitroda further emphasized that his life has been free from bribery, calling it the “absolute and irrefutable truth.”
Meanwhile, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi has accused Pitroda of “anti-India activities,” claiming that he had illegally retained a leased plot of land in Bengaluru’s Yelahanka forest area after the lease expired. Joshi alleged that Pitroda had made pro-China statements under the guidance of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and demanded that the land be reclaimed by the state government, along with criminal action.
