Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], December 27: The release of the much-awaited teaser for Salman Khan’s action film Sikandar, which was initially set to drop on his 59th birthday, has been postponed out of respect for the late former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. Dr. Singh, who passed away on Thursday evening at the age of 92, was a respected figure in Indian politics, and the postponement reflects a period of national mourning.
The teaser, which was scheduled for release at 11:07 AM on December 27, had generated excitement among Salman Khan’s fans. However, Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, the production company behind Sikandar, issued a statement on Friday morning announcing the delay. The statement, shared on their official X (formerly Twitter) handle, read, “In light of the passing of our esteemed former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Ji, we regret to announce that the release of the Sikandar teaser has been postponed to 28th December at 11:07 AM. Our thoughts are with the nation during this time of mourning. Thank you for understanding. – #TeamSikandar.”
Dr. Singh, renowned for his crucial role in India’s economic liberalization in the 1990s, served as the Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, leaving behind a legacy of significant legislative changes. His passing has deeply affected the nation.
The teaser postponement follows the recent unveiling of Salman Khan’s first look from Sikandar. The actor shared a rugged poster of his character on Instagram the previous evening, showcasing him in a suit and holding a spear, his face partially obscured.
‘Sikandar’, directed by AR Murugadoss, also stars Rashmika Mandanna alongside Salman. The film is set for a theatrical release next Eid and has already generated significant anticipation due to Salman’s role. In addition to Sikandar, Salman Khan is currently hosting Bigg Boss 18 and is preparing for the release of Kick 2, another film under Sajid Nadiadwala’s banner.
