Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], March 29: Bollywood superstar Salman Khan recently opened up about the origins of his much-anticipated film, ‘Sikandar’, revealing that the project was first pitched by director A.R. Murugadoss.
Salman recalled how producer Sajid Nadiadwala approached him with the script after hearing it from Murugadoss.
“Actually, yeh Murugadoss ki script thi aur Murugadoss ne Sajid Nadiadwala ko sunayi. Agle hi din Sajid ka mujhe phone aaya ki sun lena aur shayad tumhe pasand aaye,” he shared.
Upon hearing the script, Salman was immediately convinced.
“Toh maine suna… maine bola, ‘Isme pasand na aane wali kya cheez hai? Kab start karoge?’ Toh is prakar se yeh film bani hai,” he added.
Salim Khan’s Surprise Appearance at Trailer Launch
The actor also revealed how his father, veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, surprised the family by deciding to attend the trailer launch event.
“The love and respect he has earned are still intact. When I was leaving for the launch, he suddenly said he would join me. Everyone at home was surprised. When he arrived, he even climbed 8-10 steps to sit behind and observe the press reaction,” Salman said.
Salman Khan on Controversies: “We Don’t Want Any”
When asked whether controversies have become a trend with film releases, Salman made it clear that he wants no controversy surrounding ‘Sikandar’.
“Arey nahin chahiye bhai, humko koi controversy. Bohot saare controversies se guzar chuke hain hum. Humko nahin chahiye koi controversy,” he emphasized.
He dismissed the notion that controversies boost a film’s success, stating:
“I don’t think controversies make a film a hit. In fact, sometimes a film’s release gets delayed due to controversies—from Friday to the next Tuesday.”
He further added, “Abhi bhi hai time bhai. 3-4 din nikal jaane do aur picture release ho jaane do, uske baad bhi koi controversy chahiye nahi.”

Directed by A.R. Murugadoss, known for blockbusters like ‘Ghajini’ and ‘Thuppakki’, ‘Sikandar’ marks Salman Khan’s reunion with producer Sajid Nadiadwala after their 2014 hit ‘Kick’.
The film is set to release on March 30, 2025.
