Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], January 17: Soha Ali Khan, the sister of Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, was seen arriving at Lilavati Hospital to check on her brother’s condition following his surgery. The actor had been attacked at his Bandra residence in the early hours of Thursday.
In recent footage circulating online, Soha is seen stepping out of her car and entering the hospital, accompanied by her security team. Earlier that morning, she was also spotted arriving with her mother, veteran actress Sharmila Tagore, after Saif was rushed to the hospital following the attack.
Saif was attacked around 2:30 am on Thursday by an intruder at his 11th-floor Bandra flat. The incident began when the intruder confronted Saif’s maid at the residence. As Saif attempted to intervene and de-escalate the situation, it escalated into a violent altercation, leading to the actor suffering several stab wounds.
Mumbai police have registered an FIR regarding the attack and recorded the statement of the maid, who is the complainant in the case. In her statement, the maid alleged that the intruder demanded one crore rupees from the family. She described how the attacker attacked her with a hexa blade, injuring both her hands.
In her statement, the maid explained: “He ran toward me with something like wood in his left hand and a long thin hexa blade in his right hand. During the scuffle, he tried to attack me with the blade, and when I tried to protect myself, something like a knife struck my wrist near both my hands and the middle finger of my left hand. I asked him ‘What do you want?’ and he replied, ‘I need money.’ When I asked how much, he said, ‘One crore,’ in English.”
The house help further detailed that the intruder attacked Saif with a wooden object and the hexa blade. As the family members reacted, the intruder fled. The actor was immediately rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent surgery. The attack caused a major injury to Saif’s thoracic spinal cord, as a knife became lodged in his spine. Surgeons successfully removed the 2.5-inch-long knife and repaired a tear in his spinal fluid.
According to the latest update from the hospital, the medical team will soon consult with Saif’s family to determine when to move him from the ICU to a regular ward.
