Sadbhavana Park Inaugurated Near Rajghat; LG Saxena, Delhi CM Highlight Unified Development Push, Yamuna Cleanup

New Delhi [India], June 10: Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena on Tuesday inaugurated the newly developed Sadbhavana Park, a sprawling 16-acre green space near Rajghat, calling it a “milestone” for residents of Old Delhi. He emphasized that the park is part of a broader collaborative development effort involving the Centre, Delhi Government, and MCD, with a focus on urban beautification and environmental sustainability.

Speaking to reporters at the event, LG Saxena said,

“This is an important space in Delhi. It was envisioned that this area should be transformed. With the new government, a wave of development has begun. This park will greatly benefit the people of Delhi.”

He added that Delhi is entering a transformative phase, with all governing bodies working together toward a cleaner, greener, and more beautiful capital.

“In five years, Delhi will be so beautiful that everyone will appreciate the decisions taken now for its future,” he noted.

Highlighting the ongoing urban improvement projects, Saxena said more such green spaces are being developed and that the aim is to provide residents with clean, open, and serene public environments.

“Very few places in Delhi offer this kind of space and atmosphere. Gardens are being developed and beautified throughout the city,” he said.

The Lieutenant Governor also acknowledged the Delhi Chief Minister’s efforts in rejuvenating the Yamuna River. The CM shared updates on the river’s cleanup, citing the removal of 20 million metric tonnes of silt in just three months.

“Earlier, governments lacked seriousness about the Yamuna. We’ve surveyed all drains with drones and started major upgrades. Work is underway on 40 decentralised treatment plants (ATPs), and ₹4,000 crore is being invested in enhancing sewage treatment facilities (STPs). Once complete, clean water will flow into the Yamuna—marking its true revival,” the Chief Minister said.

She added that a “positive phase” has begun for Delhi, with all government bodies aligned in their mission.

“In the next five years, people will witness Delhi’s transformation, thanks to bold and forward-looking decisions,” she said.
