New Delhi [India]: Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar praised Team India’s stunning performance in the ICC Women’s U19 World Cup 2025, where they successfully defended their title. Under the leadership of Niki Prasad, India triumphed with a dominant 9-wicket victory against South Africa in the final at Bayuemas Oval on Sunday.
In a match between two unbeaten teams, India showed resilience in a low-scoring contest. South Africa’s players were visibly emotional after their loss, while India celebrated with smiles of pride.
Taking to X, Tendulkar shared his admiration for the Indian team’s championship spirit, saying, “From the first game to the final, our team played like true champions. Winning is special, but defending a title takes something extraordinary. Huge congratulations to #TeamIndia for lifting the U19 T20 World Cup once again! This team has inspired many and set new benchmarks for the future. Very happy for the girls & for women’s cricket.”
India’s bowlers set the tone early by restricting South Africa to just 82 runs. In response, the Indian batters dominated from the start. Despite a loss in the powerplay, Gongadi Trisha (44*) and Sanika Chalke (26*) guided India to victory, chasing down the total with more than eight overs to spare.
Gongadi Trisha’s remarkable all-round performance earned her both the Player of the Match and Player of the Series awards. She finished the tournament with 309 runs and seven wickets.
