Washington [US], May 26: Actress and singer Sabrina Bryan has expressed her eagerness to return to the iconic role of Dorinda “Do” Thomas from Disney Channel’s beloved musical franchise The Cheetah Girls. In a recent interview with People, Bryan said she would “absolutely” be up for a reunion.
“I would love to. I would love to get more of the Cheetah message out there because I’ve just seen what it’s done so far already,” Bryan shared.
The Cheetah Girls originally premiered in 2003 and quickly became a cultural phenomenon, launching the careers of its stars—Sabrina Bryan, Raven-Symoné, Adrienne Bailon-Houghton, and Kiely Williams. The success of the first film, which featured themes of friendship, empowerment, and chasing dreams, led to two sequels: The Cheetah Girls 2 (2006) and The Cheetah Girls: One World (2008). The films were accompanied by hit soundtracks that made their mark on the Billboard charts and solidified the group’s place in pop culture history.
Bryan reflected on how her character Dorinda’s personal journey has resonated deeply with fans. “A lot of [fans] talk about the idea of their storyline being close to hers—not knowing where her mom is from, having to deal with feeling like they were left behind or not knowing who they are because they don’t know their ethnic background,” she explained.
“I’ve had a lot of people come up and just say, ‘How you were just so strong in the movies and that didn’t stop you,’ is something that really inspired them, and I’ve always loved that,” she added.
The conversation around a possible reunion has been gaining momentum. Last year, Raven-Symoné also hinted at her interest in reviving the franchise. Speaking in February 2024, she said, “Another moment in culture that gave girl power, that gave fashion, that gave songs—I’m very blessed to be a part of that. And can’t wait to see what the future holds with that.”
Symoné emphasized the importance of showcasing female unity on screen: “I come from a generation [of] catty girls… I think now it’s starting to change a little bit. I think girls are more like, ‘I got you, girl.’ And to be able to mirror that back in such an iconic, cool, innovative way that screams Cheetah… I mean, I’d be a part of it.”
With both Bryan and Symoné expressing openness, fans may hold out hope for a Cheetahlicious comeback in the near future.
