Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan has been discharged from Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital after undergoing surgery for injuries to his arm and neck, following a stabbing incident at his Bandra residence last week. As Saif continues to recover, his family is expressing immense relief and gratitude.
On Tuesday, Saif’s sister, Saba Pataudi, took to Instagram to praise the female staff at Saif’s home who played a crucial role in protecting him and his family during the burglary attempt. She described them as “unsung heroes” and thanked them for their bravery. Saba shared a picture with the staff, including domestic help Eliyama Philip, and wrote, “The unsung heroes… who literally pulled their weight when it mattered most! Bless you both and ALL those who contributed in keeping my brother and his family safe! You are the BEST.”
The incident occurred when an intruder, later identified as Mohd Shariful Islam Shehzad, broke into Saif’s home with apparent intent to steal. During the altercation, Saif was stabbed in the thoracic spine, sustaining serious injuries. He was immediately rushed to Lilavati Hospital for treatment.
A key witness to the chaotic moments was the auto-rickshaw driver who helped Saif. The driver recalled that it was around 2-3 a.m. when he saw a woman attempting to hire an auto near Saif’s residence. Upon stopping, he saw Saif, covered in blood, and helped transport him to the hospital. “I dropped them at Lilavati Hospital and later found out it was Saif Ali Khan. I saw him bleeding from his neck and back,” the driver told ANI.
Meanwhile, police launched a major investigation, forming 20 teams to track down the assailant. The suspect, Shehzad, was apprehended in Thane while attempting to flee back to his native village in Bangladesh. The police have filed charges against him under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).
