Washington [USA], January 4 : Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, the stars of the record-breaking Deadpool & Wolverine franchise, are reportedly not attending the 82nd Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, according to a Deadline report. Blake Lively, actress and wife of Reynolds, is also expected to skip the event. Lively, who starred and produced the hit Netflix romantic drama It Ends With Us, which grossed USD 351 million globally this year, also made a cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine.
The decision for Reynolds, Lively, and Jackman to forgo attending the ceremony was reportedly made well before the ongoing legal controversy surrounding It Ends With Us. Lively is currently suing her co-star and director, Justin Baldoni, for sexual harassment in a federal court in New York. The lawsuit has become a prominent issue in the entertainment world.
Comedian Nikki Glaser, who will host the Golden Globes, has opted not to address the legal dispute during the broadcast. “The Blake Lively-Justin Baldoni situation is such a sensitive topic right now that even mentioning it could seem like I’m on the wrong side, even though I would never be,” Glaser shared with Yahoo Entertainment. “I don’t want to give his name any more attention, and frankly, I’m frustrated I even know it.”
In other Golden Globe news, Netflix leads the nominations for both TV and film categories, while A24 and HBO also received significant recognition. Viola Davis will be honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award, following her Oscar win and Golden Globe recognition for Fences in 2016. Additionally, Indian filmmaker Payal Kapadia’s All We Imagine As Light has earned two prestigious Golden Globe nominations, marking a notable moment for the country’s representation at the awards.
