Ryan Gosling Blasts Off in ‘Project Hail Mary’ Trailer: Comedic Sci-Fi Epic Arrives March 2026

Washington, DC [US], July 1: The trailer for Ryan Gosling’s highly anticipated film Project Hail Mary dropped on Monday, igniting excitement among sci-fi fans.

The comedic sci-fi adventure from Amazon MGM Studios follows Gosling’s character, a humble teacher who becomes an astronaut on a daring mission to save Earth, as reported by Variety. Sandra Hüller co-stars as the scientist who persuades him to embark on the life-or-death journey into space.

“It’s an insanely ambitious story that’s massive in scope, and it seemed really hard to make — and that’s kind of our bag,” Gosling shared at CinemaCon. “This is why we go to the movies. And I’m not just saying it because I’m in it. I’m also saying it because I’m a producer on the film.”

In the trailer, Gosling’s character encounters an alien while on his solo mission beyond the solar system.

Project Hail Mary is based on Andy Weir’s bestselling novel of the same name. The film is directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the Oscar-winning team behind Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

The script was written by Drew Goddard, who also adapted Weir’s The Martian — which Ridley Scott directed and starred Matt Damon and Jessica Chastain, earning seven Oscar nominations.

Gosling’s recent credits include Barbie and The Fall Guy. He previously portrayed astronaut Neil Armstrong in First Man with director Damien Chazelle.

Sandra Hüller recently earned an Oscar nomination for Anatomy of a Fall and starred in The Zone of Interest.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are also known for hits like 21 Jump Street and The Lego Movie.

Project Hail Mary is set to hit theaters on March 20, 2026.
