Ruturaj Gaikwad Signs with Yorkshire For Remainder Of English Domestic Season

Yorkshire [UK], June 10: Chennai Super Kings skipper and Indian top-order batter Ruturaj Gaikwad has officially signed with Yorkshire County Cricket Club for the remainder of the English domestic season.

The club made the announcement on Tuesday, stating:

“The Yorkshire County Cricket Club is delighted to announce the overseas signing of Ruturaj Gaikwad.”

The 28-year-old will join Yorkshire ahead of their Rothesay County Championship match against Surrey at Scarborough in July. Gaikwad will also be available for the Metro Bank One Day Cup, staying with the club until the season’s conclusion.

Gaikwad’s 2025 IPL campaign with CSK was prematurely cut short due to injury. Though later selected for the India A squad touring England, he did not feature in either of the two unofficial Tests.

A technically sound and versatile batter, Gaikwad boasts six ODI appearances and 23 T20I caps for India. He is now the fourth Indian to play for Yorkshire, joining the elite company of Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, and Cheteshwar Pujara.

Sharing his excitement, Gaikwad said:

“It has always been a goal of mine to experience cricket in England, and there’s no bigger club than Yorkshire. I’m eager to contribute during this crucial part of the season and help push for silverware.”

Yorkshire’s Head Coach Anthony McGrath praised the signing:

“Ruturaj is a very accomplished cricketer with a balanced, adaptable game. He brings solidity and scoring potential to our batting lineup. We’re thrilled to have him.”

Gavin Hamilton, General Manager of Cricket, added:

“Gaikwad’s multi-format experience and quality make him a significant addition for us. His presence will be invaluable during the business end of the season.”
