Rumors Swirl About Glock Discontinuing Handguns For New ‘V Model’ Series

Over the past several days, rumors have spread like wildfire on social media that Austrian gun maker Glock GmbH is going to stop making most of its current commercial handguns and replace them with a new “V Model” line.

The shocking assertion came from an Instagram account called glockstore. The statement said that the anticipated end of the line was part of a big change and that the old pistols would be replaced by a new “V Model” line.

The Viral Claim vs. the Verified Fact

The post that went viral and was circulated a lot on the internet had some particular, but unproven, information:

“HUGE NEWS: We just heard that all Glocks will be withdrawn after November 30th, except for the 43, 43X, and 48X. There will be new Glock “V Models” to replace all Glocks. These will have alterations that make it impossible to switch conversion. At launch, all will be NON-MOS. No changes to prices.”

It’s vital to remember that the same message also said, “Still working to confirm the new information.”

So yet, Glock GmbH has not made an official statement confirming this big change or the start of the “V Model” series. Also, there are no reports from reliable news sources that support such a huge change in Glock’s business approach.

What Glock Has Said About the Legacy Discontinuations

Even though the “V Model” claims haven’t been substantiated, Glock has said that it will stop making a lot of its older handgun models. The company’s website contains a list of the affected firearms.

The Truth About Guns says that the handguns that will be phased out include some Gen 3, Gen 4, and Gen 5 SKUs (Stock Keeping Units).

The following models and generations have been confirmed to be ending:

Gen 3 Models: G17L, G20, G21, G22, G24, G27, G29, G30, G31, G32, G33, G34, G35, G36 / G36 FGR, G37, G38 / G39.

Gen 4 Models: G17, G17 MOS, G19, G19 MOS, G20, G21, G22, G23, G26, G27, G29, G30, G31, G32, G33, G34, G34 MOS, G35, G37, G40 MOS, G41 / G41 MOS.

G17 MOS, G22, G22 MOS, G27, G29, G30, G34 MOS, and G49 are all Gen 5 models.

Glock has stated that they would stop making these older models, but the bigger story about the release of a new “V Model” that will stop conversions has not yet been confirmed. The maker of the guns has not yet confirmed the claims made on social media, so gun fans and buyers should wait for an official declaration before taking any action.
