RSS to Hold Over 1 Lakh Hindu Sammelans Across India From January 15

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) will begin organising Hindu Sammelans across the country from January 15 as part of celebrations marking the organisation’s centenary year, senior RSS functionaries said on Sunday.

The nationwide initiative, launched on Vijayadashami last year, follows a call by the RSS leadership to observe the centenary as a “samaj utsav” (social festival) aimed at strengthening unity within Hindu society. The organisation has set an ambitious target of conducting more than one lakh such conferences across India.

Of these, around 2,000 Hindu Sammelans will be held in the Braj region alone, spanning 12 districts and covering nearly 3,000 urban and rural settlements. Braj province Prachar Pramukh Kirti Kumar said the gatherings are intended to bring together people from all sections of Hindu society and convey a message of social harmony and collective identity.

“The objective is to connect society and reinforce unity beyond caste or class divisions,” Kumar said, adding that discussions will focus on social cohesion and five key transformative changes suggested by the RSS leadership to address social shortcomings.

According to officials, the Hindu Sammelans in the Braj province will take place between January 15 and February 15, with participation from RSS office-bearers at provincial, regional and district levels. Preparations are currently underway, with local organising committees finalising arrangements between January 11 and January 21.

The conferences will feature addresses by intellectuals, teachers, doctors, engineers, women participants, saints and other prominent citizens. Cultural programmes reflecting local traditions will also be organised, and each event will conclude with a community meal.

Providing district-level details, regional Prachar Pramukh Jagdish Prasad said that Mathura alone will host around 150 Hindu Sammelans across 86 mandals and 76 urban settlements.
