Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India] : Amid the ongoing political row triggered by the Congress party’s “Gayab” post allegedly targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, senior RSS leader Indresh Kumar on Tuesday condemned the Congress leadership, accusing them of routinely abusing the Prime Minister and undermining national efforts.
Indresh Kumar remarked, “Congress leaders can digest their food only when they abuse the Prime Minister. If the army is going to fight, they will oppose the army commander. They won’t do any good work but will target those who do.” He further suggested that the party would oppose any military action India might undertake in the wake of rising tensions with Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack.
The controversy was sparked by a Congress social media post displaying the word “GAYAB” (missing) over an image of a kurta-pyjama and black footwear, captioned “Jimmedariyo ke Samay-Gayab” (Missing during the time of responsibility). The post criticised the Prime Minister for his absence during an all-party meeting following the April 22 terror attack that killed 26 people.
BJP MP Nishikant Dubey strongly reacted to the post, accusing Congress of attempting to metaphorically “separate the head and body” of the Prime Minister. He also raised suspicions about Congress’s alleged ideological alignment with the terrorist organisation Ghazwa-e-Hind, referencing a graphic posted by the group showing a destroyed Hindu shrine alongside a controversial religious quote.
“Now, the Congress party must explain its connection with Ghazwa-e-Hind. Is the same person tweeting on both accounts?” Dubey asked in a post on X.
Haryana Minister Anil Vij echoed similar sentiments, calling the Congress tweet “deeply objectionable” and urging all Indians to stand united behind PM Modi.
Adding fuel to the fire, BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari claimed that the controversial Congress tweet was shared by a former Pakistani minister, suggesting a coordinated narrative. “Congress is taking orders from Pakistan. Their tweet was quoted by a former Pakistani minister. This reveals a jugalbandi between Congress and Pakistan’s deep state,” Bhandari told ANI.
As political tensions escalate, the government continues to grapple with the aftermath of the deadly terror strike in Pahalgam, with intensified counter-terror operations underway across Jammu and Kashmir.
