RRB Recruitment Update: Over 1.86 Crore Candidates Appear for Exams Since November 2024, Over 50,000 Appointments Expected in FY 2025-26

New Delhi July 11, 2025: In a major recruitment drive, the Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have conducted Computer Based Tests (CBTs) for more than 1.86 crore candidates across seven recruitment notifications since November 2024, covering 55,197 vacancies. This massive effort is expected to result in over 50,000 appointments in the financial year 2025–26, according to the latest updates from the Ministry of Railways.

📊 Key Highlights:

  • 9,000+ appointments have already been made in Q1 of FY 2025–26.
  • 12 RRB notifications have been issued since 2024 for 1,08,324 vacancies, with more than 50,000 additional jobs expected in FY 2026–27.
  • E-KYC-based Aadhaar authentication has been introduced to ensure fair candidate identity verification—achieving 95%+ success.
  • Electronic jammers deployed 100% across all CBT centers to prevent cheating via gadgets.

🏢 Enhanced Exam Infrastructure & Fairness

Conducting CBTs on this scale requires meticulous planning. RRBs have:

  • Increased exam center availability
  • Prioritized candidates’ proximity to test locations, especially for female and PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disabilities) candidates
  • Improved transparency and security measures during the recruitment process

🔍 Identity Verification via mAadhaar App

In a related move, the West Central Railway (Bhopal) division has rolled out QR code-based passenger identity verification using the mAadhaar mobile app, as directed by the Railway Board. The objective is to:

  • Combat unauthorized travel
  • Prevent the use of fake Aadhaar cards or tickets booked in others’ names

This system will soon be integrated into Handheld Terminals (HHTs) used by train staff, enhancing real-time Aadhaar verification during ticket checks.

🚆 About RRBs

The Railway Recruitment Boards are responsible for recruiting Group C and Group D staff for Indian Railways, the world’s fourth-largest rail network and one of India’s biggest employers.

📅 What’s Next?

With over 1 lakh vacancies already notified and more notifications in the pipeline, candidates can expect robust recruitment activity in 2025 and 2026. The continued focus on digital verification, fairness, and transparency signals a major modernization of the RRB recruitment process.
