Row Erupts Over Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Operation Sindoor’ Remarks; Pramod Tiwari Backs Him, BJP Hits Back

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], May 20: Congress MP Pramod Tiwari on Tuesday came out in strong support of Rahul Gandhi’s recent allegations against External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, claiming that India’s decision to inform Pakistan ahead of Operation Sindoor undermined the effectiveness of the Armed Forces.

Tiwari asserted that the failure to eliminate high-profile terrorists like Hafiz Saeed was due to this advance notice.
“I fully support Rahul Gandhi’s statement. I salute the bravery and valour of our Armed Forces. Big terrorists like Hafiz Saeed were not killed because the EAM admitted that India had informed Pakistan before striking. Today, if our Armed Forces have not got the desired results, it is due to the EAM,” Tiwari said.

The controversy stems from Rahul Gandhi’s repeated social media posts accusing the government of compromising national interest. In a post on X, Gandhi said,
“Informing Pakistan at the start of our attack was a crime. EAM has publicly admitted that the GOI did it. Who authorised it? How many aircraft did our air force lose as a result?”

Continuing his attack, the Congress leader on Monday wrote,
“EAM Jaishankar’s silence isn’t just telling — it’s damning. So I’ll ask again: How many Indian aircraft did we lose because Pakistan knew? This wasn’t a lapse. It was a crime. And the nation deserves the truth.”

In response, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a scathing counterattack. BJP spokesperson CR Kesavan accused Gandhi of undermining national interests and mirroring Pakistan’s propaganda.
“Rahul Gandhi has been doubting the nation, the government, and the Armed Forces. Now, he sounds like Pakistan’s propaganda chief. Let alone being Leader of Opposition, our nation deserves a more responsible and patriotic parliamentarian,” Kesavan said.

He also alleged that Pakistan was using Gandhi’s remarks as “ammunition” to further its own narrative, calling him a “poster boy” for the rival state.

The war of words over Operation Sindoor has added a new flashpoint in the ongoing political discourse, with the Congress defending its stance on transparency and accountability, while the BJP accuses the Opposition of endangering national security and demoralizing the Armed Forces.
