Portugal football icon Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed strong confidence in achieving the unimaginable milestone of 1,000 career goals, saying he is sure of reaching the mark as long as he stays injury-free. Currently sitting at 956 goals, the Al-Nassr star is just 44 strikes away from reaching the historic figure.
Speaking at the Globe Soccer Awards, where he was honoured as the Best Middle East Player, Ronaldo said his passion for football remains intact even after decades of success.
“It’s a huge pleasure to be at a gala with so many sports personalities. This is one of my favourite events because I meet incredible people, including my wife,” Ronaldo said, as quoted by Goal.com.
A special moment to end the year on. I carry on with the same passion, commitment and hunger as always to reach my goals.

He added that even though maintaining form at his age is demanding, his motivation to win trophies and keep scoring remains undiminished.
“It doesn’t matter whether I play in the Middle East or Europe, I want to keep winning titles and reach the milestone everyone knows about. If there are no injuries, I’m confident I’ll get there. Enjoy the night and Happy New Year,” Ronaldo added.
Portugal head coach Roberto Martinez has also backed Ronaldo to reach the landmark, praising his discipline and mindset. In an interview with Marca, Martinez highlighted that Ronaldo’s success comes from focusing on the present rather than obsessing over long-term numbers.
“He is at a great point in his career because he lives in the moment. His secret is to enjoy each day and perform his best now, and the final number will depend on when he decides to retire,” Martinez said.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo continues to dominate on-field action as well. His brace recently guided Al-Nassr to a 3-0 victory over Al Akhdoud, marking their 10th successive win and pushing them four points clear at the top of the table in the 2025–26 season. With the goals, Ronaldo’s tally rose to 956, further extending his record as the highest men’s international scorer with 143 goals in 225 appearances for Portugal.
Across his illustrious club career, Ronaldo has represented Sporting CP, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, and now Al-Nassr, continuing to inspire generations while chasing yet another monumental milestone.
