Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India]: Half-centuries from Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav powered Mumbai Indians (MI) to a commanding nine-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in a one-sided Indian Premier League (IPL) clash at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.

Although the Wankhede crowd missed the trademark sixes of MS Dhoni, the home side had plenty to cheer for as Rohit returned to form with a vintage knock, while Suryakumar unleashed his trademark flair in an effortless chase of 177 runs, completed in just 15.4 overs.

Rohit, SKY Light Up Wankhede in Run Chase
Chasing 177, MI got off to a flying start. Ryan Rickelton set the tone with two early boundaries off Khaleel Ahmed, followed by a classic Rohit assault in the third over, as he dispatched Khaleel for two fours and a six.
Jamie Overton’s fifth over proved costly, with three wides and a six apiece from both openers. MI brought up their 50-run stand in just 4.5 overs and ended the powerplay at 62/0, with Rohit (32*) and Rickelton (24*) in command.
Rickelton’s knock ended at 24 off 19 balls, as Ayush Mhatre held onto a well-judged catch off Ravindra Jadeja. But MI were already in cruise control at 63/1 in 6.4 overs.

Suryakumar Yadav wasted no time settling in and targeted the spinners from the outset. By the 10-over mark, MI were 93/1 with Rohit nearing his first half-century of the season. He reached the milestone in 33 balls, with two fours and four towering sixes.
SKY’s counterattack saw Noor Ahmed suffer a hat-trick of boundaries in the 13th over. He brought up his second fifty of the season in just 26 balls, striking six fours and two sixes. The next two overs yielded 30 runs as MI dismantled the CSK bowling unit.
Suryakumar fittingly finished the chase with back-to-back sixes, sealing a dominant win at 177/1 in 15.4 overs. Rohit remained unbeaten on 76 off 45 balls (4 fours, 6 sixes), while Suryakumar was not out on 68 off 30 balls (6 fours, 5 sixes).
Jadeja, Dube Lift CSK to Respectable Total
Put into bat, CSK posted a competitive 176/5, thanks to a well-paced half-century from Shivam Dube, a fiery cameo from debutant Ayush Mhatre, and a late flourish from Ravindra Jadeja.
Rachin Ravindra and Shaik Rasheed opened the innings but struggled for fluency early on. Ravindra fell for 5(9) to Ashwani Kumar, while debutant Mhatre lit up the powerplay with 32 off just 15 balls, including a four and two sixes.
After Mhatre’s dismissal by Deepak Chahar, the innings slowed until Jadeja and Dube revived it with a 79-run stand in just 8.2 overs. Dube struck back-to-back sixes off Ashwani to reach his half-century off 32 balls. Jadeja also joined the party, ending the 16th over with a towering six.
Dube was dismissed for 50, and Dhoni, attempting to up the ante, fell cheaply to Jasprit Bumrah, who ended with an economical 2/25. Jadeja’s unbeaten 53 guided CSK to a defendable total of 176/5.
