Rohit Sharma Ends Retirement Speculations After Leading India To Champions Trophy Glory

India’s skipper Rohit Sharma put an end to all speculations regarding his retirement after leading Team India to a historic ICC Champions Trophy 2025 victory over New Zealand in Dubai on Sunday.

Following the title win, Rohit Sharma became only the second Indian captain after MS Dhoni to lead India to two ICC titles. He also cemented his legacy as the only captain in the world to lead a team to the finals of all ICC championships.

“I Am Not Retiring,” Says Rohit Sharma

Addressing the media after the final, Rohit Sharma made it clear that he is not retiring anytime soon.

“Just to clarify, I am not retiring. Please do not spread any rumours,” he said during the post-match press conference.

This statement came as a relief to fans, as speculation had been mounting regarding whether the veteran captain would step away from international cricket after this triumph.

A Captain’s Knock in the Final

Leading from the front, Rohit played a match-winning knock of 76 runs in 83 balls with seven fours and three sixes, earning him the Player of the Match award. His innings provided the perfect platform for India’s chase as they secured a four-wicket victory to claim their third Champions Trophy title.

India’s triumph further solidified their dominance in global white-ball cricket, making them the first team to win the ICC Champions Trophy three times.
