RJD Slams BJP’s ‘Saugat-e-Modi’ Initiative, Calls It A Political Gimmick

Patna (Bihar) [India], March 28: The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) launched an attack on the NDA government and its allies on Friday by putting up posters outside its party office in Patna, criticizing the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) ‘Saugat-e-Modi’ initiative.

The posters read:
“Aankh cheen kar chashma daine vale log, rakh ko apne pass yeh ‘Saugat-e-Modi’ kit.”

This comes as political tensions rise ahead of the upcoming elections in Bihar, with opposition parties alleging that the BJP’s campaign is a politically motivated move timed before the polls.

BJP’s ‘Saugat-e-Modi’ Campaign for Underprivileged Muslims

The BJP Minority Morcha launched the “Saugat-e-Modi” campaign to distribute special kits to 32 lakh underprivileged Muslims across India ahead of Eid. The initiative was kicked off from Nizamuddin, Delhi, under the guidance of BJP National President JP Nadda.

Jamal Siddiqui, National President of the BJP Minority Morcha, stated that the campaign aims to support marginalized communities during Ramzan, Eid, Good Friday, Easter, Nauruz, and the Indian New Year. He also mentioned that Eid Milan celebrations will be held at the district level.

Massive Reach and Distribution Efforts

  • 32,000 BJP Minority Morcha workers are collaborating with 32,000 mosques nationwide to distribute the kits.
  • The campaign aims to support 32 lakh Muslim families across the country.
  • 3,000 mosques will actively participate in the initiative.

Contents of the ‘Saugat-e-Modi’ Kit

The kits include:
Food items: Vermicelli, dates, dry fruits, sugar
Clothing: Fabric for suits (women), kurta-pyjamas (men)
Estimated cost per kit: ₹500 to ₹600

With elections approaching, the RJD and other opposition parties see this initiative as a vote-bank strategy, while the BJP maintains that it is an effort to reach out to marginalized communities.
