Washington DC [US], July 6: Legendary Beatles drummer Ringo Starr is determined to keep his upcoming biopic authentic, spending two full days meticulously reviewing the script with director Sam Mendes, as reported by Variety.
According to a New York Times profile cited by Variety, Starr went through the script “line by line” with Mendes, offering “extensive notes” to ensure it accurately reflected his life—especially his relationship with first wife Maureen Starkey Tigrett. “He had a writer—very good writer, great reputation, and he wrote it great, but it had nothing to do with Maureen and I. That’s not how we were. I’d say, ‘We would never do that,’” Starr shared.
After the detailed edit session, Starr expressed confidence in Mendes’ direction, saying, “But he’ll do what he’s doing, and I’ll send him peace and love.”
The film is part of Mendes’ ambitious project titled The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event, which will feature four separate biopics—each told from the perspective of one of the Beatles members—set for release in April 2028. Details on whether the films will debut simultaneously or in installments remain unclear.
The star-studded cast includes Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, and Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, reported Variety.
The logline for the cinematic saga reads, “Each man has his own story, but together they are legendary.”
Formed in Liverpool in 1960, The Beatles—John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr—became one of the most influential and successful bands in music history, revolutionizing popular culture worldwide.
