Washington D.C. [US], July 25 – The popular comedy-drama series ‘Resident Alien’, starring Alan Tudyk in the lead role, has been canceled by USA Network. The news comes just ahead of its ongoing season finale episode, Variety reported.
The sci-fi series initially premiered in 2021 on Syfy, where it aired for three seasons before making the move to USA Network. ‘Resident Alien’ began its run on its second network with the debut of Season 4 in June.
While the series’ fate is now sealed, USA Network is still scheduled to broadcast the final three episodes on their originally slated dates in the coming weeks.
Showrunner Expresses Pride in Final Season
“I knew going into it that this was likely going to be our final season,” series creator and showrunner Chris Sheridan told TV Insider, as quoted by Variety. He added, “Creatively, that was exciting because I knew we could spend the time wrapping up some storylines and driving toward an ending. I’m so proud of how good Season 4 is and especially proud that we were able to finish as strongly as we did, with a finale that is probably my favorite episode of the series.”
Sheridan also offered a promise to fans, stating that the Season 4 finale will provide the series “a very satisfying ending while also leaving the door cracked open for any future this world may have. I can’t wait for everyone to see it.”
In ‘Resident Alien’, Alan Tudyk stars as an extraterrestrial who crash-lands on Earth with a mission to eradicate humankind. However, after assuming the identity of a small-town physician, he begins to develop an unexpected fondness for Earthlings. The show’s cast also features Sara Tomko, Corey Reynolds, Alice Wetterlund, Levi Fiehler, Elizabeth Bowen, Judah Prehn, and Meredith Garretson.
The ‘Resident Alien’ series finale is slated to air on August 8.
