Reports Of Fawad Khan’s ‘Abir Gulaal’ Releasing In India Are False, Says PIB

NEW DELHI — The Press Information Bureau (PIB) has said that recent claims that the movie Abir Gulaal, which stars Pakistani actor Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor, will be released in theaters in India are not true. The PIB’s official X (previously Twitter) account posted a message that cleared things up. It said, “Several news outlets are saying that the movie “Abeer Gulaal,” starring Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor, will come out in Indian theaters on September 26, 2025.” This allegation is not true.

The love drama was supposed to come out on May 9, but it was put on hold after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. After the incident that killed 26 tourists, many in India became even more angry and called for a ban on Pakistani artists.

The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) also repeated its long-standing order that Pakistani artists, singers, and technicians should not be allowed to work in the Indian film and entertainment sector. This order not to cooperate has made it very hard for any movie using Pakistani actors to get made. Saregama, the music label that owns the rights to the film’s music, has reportedly taken the songs off of the film’s official YouTube page, which is just one more problem for the film.

Indian Stories Production, A Richer Lens, and Aarjay Pictures made the love drama Abir Gulaal. Avantika Hari, Vivek B. Agrawal, and Rakesh Sippy are the producers. The movie was filmed in London and stars Lisa Haydon, Riddhi Dogra, Farida Jalal, Soni Razdan, and Parmeet Sethi in important roles.

The PIB’s official statement confirms that the film is still in limbo, despite recent speculations. There are no signs that it will be released in India any time soon.
