Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], March 28: Ritwik Khanna of RKive City, winner of the R|Elan Circular Design Challenge (CDC) 2024, unveiled his latest collection, Reclaim The City, at Lakmé Fashion Week x FDCI at the Jio World Convention Centre.
The collection reimagines forgotten forms and designs, redefining future dressing styles with a sustainable approach.
Speaking to ANI, Hemant D Sharma, President – Polyester, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), emphasized the significance of sustainability in fashion. He stated, “The whole concept was to provide a platform for young professionals to showcase their innovations around sustainability.”
Since its inception in 2018, the R|Elan Circular Design Challenge has emerged as a premier platform for emerging talents in sustainable fashion, encouraging global innovations in circular design. Sharma highlighted the event’s growing impact:
“It has now been seven years since we have been having the CDC event every year. We are happy to see momentum building since 2018, and this has been a satisfying experience for us.”
Presented by R|Elan, the next-generation fabric brand of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), in collaboration with the United Nations in India, the CDC is committed to promoting sustainable fashion practices. The initiative fosters eco-conscious creativity while addressing the pressing concerns of waste management and carbon footprints in the industry.
“We have also seen the fashion industry and the UN teaming up to create something very meaningful for society,” Sharma added, reinforcing RIL’s dedication to sustainable fashion.
The Circular Design Challenge has played a key role in driving India’s fashion industry towards eco-consciousness.
