Rekha Gupta To Be Sworn In As Delhi’s Chief Minister At Ramlila Maidan

On February 20, Rekha Gupta will take the oath as the Chief Minister of Delhi at a grand ceremony at Ramlila Maidan in the national capital. Alongside her, ministers such as Parvesh Sahib Singh, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravinder Indraj Singh, Kapil Mishra, and Pankaj Kumar Singh will also be sworn in.

Rekha Gupta’s swearing-in will make her the fourth woman Chief Minister of Delhi, continuing a tradition that few other states have managed to follow. Delhi has seen women hold the post from various parties, including the BJP, Congress, and Aam Aadmi Party. Gupta will take over from Atishi.

An MLA from Shalimar Bagh, Rekha Gupta has had a long history of service in the BJP, having been the general secretary of BJP Mahila Morcha in Delhi and a member of the party’s national executive committee. Her work has been focused on promoting the welfare of marginalized communities and women.

Expressing her gratitude, Rekha Gupta thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the party leadership for their faith in her. “PM Narendra Modi has shown immense faith in an ordinary party worker and daughter like me. I will stand up to his expectations. I want to thank the party leadership and PM Narendra Modi who showed immense faith in a commoner like me and bestowed such a big responsibility on me… My story can be an inspiration for every woman, that a common middle-class woman can also be given a chance to reach the top leadership of the party,” Gupta said.

She also thanked the people of Delhi for their support, saying that a golden period for the city was about to begin.

The swearing-in ceremony, set to take place at 12:15 pm, will be attended by key figures such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and several Union Ministers and NDA Chief Ministers and Deputy Ministers.

Preparations are in full swing for the ceremony, with NSG commandos, Delhi Police, and RAF personnel deployed at Ramlila Maidan to ensure security.

This marks the BJP’s return to power in Delhi after 27 years, following a landslide victory in the assembly elections. BJP secured 48 out of 70 seats, while Aam Aadmi Party won only 22 seats, and Congress failed to win any. The election results were announced on February 8, though opposition parties have criticized the BJP for the delay in forming the new government.
