Registrations Begin For Amarnath Yatra 2025; Health Checkups And Massive Turnout Mark Day One

Registrations for the Amarnath Yatra 2025 officially began on Tuesday, with visuals showing massive queues of eager devotees waiting to register for the annual pilgrimage. The spiritual journey, which holds deep religious significance, will commence on July 3 this year and conclude on August 9, coinciding with Raksha Bandhan.

Rohit, a returning devotee, shared his excitement and explained the mandatory procedures:

“I am very excited… this is my second time going for the Amarnath yatra. Devotees who have signed up for the yatra have to undergo health checkups,” he said.

Another pilgrim, Sonia Mehra, also preparing for her second visit to the sacred shrine, expressed similar enthusiasm:

“I am very excited for the Amarnath Yatra this year. This is my second time going for it… I hope I get to do this yatra every year,” Mehra told Media.

This year’s Yatra will be conducted via two traditional routes: the Pahalgam track in Anantnag district and the Baltal route in Ganderbal district.

The dates for the Yatra were announced on March 5 by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha during the 48th board meeting of the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board (SASB) at Raj Bhawan.

The board also proposed a number of upgrades and new facilities for the comfort and safety of devotees. Some key developments include:

  • Enhanced lodging capacities at Jammu, Srinagar, and other key transit points.
  • Operationalizing Yatri Facilitation Centres for e-KYC, RFID card issuance, and on-spot registrations at multiple locations, including Nowgam and Katra Railway Stations.
  • Strengthening infrastructure and services at Baltal, Pahalgam, Nunwan, and Pantha Chowk Srinagar, in line with the growing number of expected pilgrims.

During the review of progress made by the departments involved, the Lieutenant Governor emphasized the importance of ensuring adequate facilities and amenities throughout the Yatra routes.

With the spiritual journey drawing closer, preparations are in full swing to make the pilgrimage smooth, safe, and memorable for thousands of devotees expected to participate in this year’s Amarnath Yatra.
