Red Lorry Film Festival 2025: A Tribute To Indian Cinema’s Legends With Iconic Films And Milestones

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], February 11: The upcoming edition of the Red Lorry Film Festival promises to evoke cherished memories of Indian cinema through its tribute to iconic filmmakers. This year’s festival will showcase a retrospective selection under its ‘Legacy Rewind’ and ‘Timeless Tales’ sections, celebrating the works of legendary filmmakers like Subhash GhaiMansoor KhanVijay Anand, and Smita Patil, alongside Hollywood classics.

The ‘Legacy Rewind’ section will spotlight Subhash Ghai, commemorating 45 years of his iconic musical thriller ‘Karz’ (1980). The film’s unforgettable soundtrack and performances by Rishi KapoorSimi Garewal, and Tina Munim helped redefine the genre. Ghai expressed his excitement about the film festival, stating, “I am filled with nostalgia and pride… I eagerly look forward to connecting with fans at the festival.”

The section will also highlight Mansoor Khan, celebrating 37 and 33 years of his beloved films ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’ (1988) and ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar’ (1992). Khan shared his privilege in revisiting his career’s milestones and celebrating his family’s contribution to Indian cinema.

Additionally, Rajiv Rai will present his father Gulshan Rai’s cinematic masterpieces, ‘Johny Mera Naam’ (1970) and ‘Deewaar’ (1975), marking the 55th and 50th anniversaries of the films. Rajiv expressed his honor in carrying forward his father’s legacy, highlighting the timeless influence of the films.

The festival will also celebrate the extraordinary legacy of Vijay Anand with screenings of his ‘Johny Mera Naam’‘Teesri Manzil’ (1966), and ‘Jewel Thief’ (1967), iconic films that shaped Bollywood’s golden era.

In tribute to Guru Dutt, the festival will feature the comedy classic ‘Mr. & Mrs. ’55’ (1955) in honor of his centennial birth anniversary. Smita Patil’s ‘Mirch Masala’ (1987) will also be showcased to commemorate her 70th birth anniversary.
