A powerful explosion occurred near Delhi’s Red Fort on Monday evening (November 10), killing at least one person and triggering a fire in vehicles parked nearby, officials confirmed.
The Delhi Fire Services received a distress call around 7 pm about a blast near Lal Qila Metro Station Gate No. 1. Seven fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the scene. The area has been cordoned off, and emergency response teams, including the Delhi Police and forensic experts, are at the site to investigate the cause of the explosion.
According to officials, the blast originated from a car parked near the fort, and the impact led to a blaze affecting multiple vehicles. As of now, one casualty has been reported, and authorities are verifying whether others may have been injured.
Traffic movement around the Red Fort and Netaji Subhash Marg has been restricted as a precautionary measure. Police are also reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas to ascertain whether the explosion was accidental or deliberate.
