Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], April 11: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) extended their poor home record in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, registering their second consecutive loss at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium following a defeat to Delhi Capitals (DC) on Thursday.
Despite showing impressive form on the road with notable victories over top teams like Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and Mumbai Indians (MI), RCB has struggled at home. Their latest defeat marks the 45th loss at Chinnaswamy — the highest by any team at a single venue — with a win-loss ratio of 0.977. DC follows with 44 losses at Arun Jaitley Stadium (ratio 0.840), and KKR is third with 38 defeats at Eden Gardens (ratio 1.394).
After winning the toss and opting to bowl, DC’s spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav (2/17) and Vipraj Nigam (2/18) limited RCB to 163/7 in 20 overs. Phil Salt smashed a quickfire 37 off 17 balls, and Tim David added an unbeaten 37 off 20. A 61-run stand between Salt and Virat Kohli (22 off 14) gave RCB early momentum, but they failed to build a big total.
In reply, DC were reduced to 58/4 before KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs led a superb recovery. The pair stitched an unbeaten 111-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Rahul starred with a brilliant 93* off 53 balls, smashing seven fours and six sixes, while Stubbs supported with 38* off 23, hitting four boundaries and a six.
Delhi Capitals remain unbeaten with four wins from four matches and sit in second place on the points table. RCB, with three wins and two losses, hold the fourth spot. KL Rahul was awarded ‘Player of the Match’ for his match-winning innings.
