Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 8: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Rajat Patidar has been fined INR 12 lakh for maintaining a slow over-rate during Match 21 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium, as per an official IPL Media Advisory.
The fine comes under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which addresses minimum over-rate violations. This was RCB’s first offence of the season.
Patidar Shines in Leadership Debut
Despite the fine, Patidar has emerged as a standout leader in his debut season as RCB captain. Under his guidance, the team has notched up three wins in four matches, including impressive away victories over heavyweights KKR, CSK, and now MI.
With the bat, Patidar has been equally impressive, scoring 161 runs in four games, including two half-centuries. His composed presence at the crease and tactical acumen have injected fresh energy into the RCB squad.
