Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], February 11: Veteran actor Raza Murad has strongly criticized YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia for his offensive remarks made on the show ‘India’s Got Latent’, hosted by comedian Samay Raina. Murad described Allahbadia’s behavior as an act done for fame and stated that it has left the country in shock.

The controversy erupted when Allahbadia, known for his YouTube channel BeerBiceps, made inappropriate comments during the episode. Speaking to ANI, Murad questioned, “To what extent can one stoop for fame?” He pointed out that comedians like Johny Lever, the late Raju Srivastav, and Kapil Sharma never used abusive language to become famous, emphasizing that Allahbadia’s comments were unacceptable. “You talk about barging into your parents’ bedroom?” Murad continued, expressing that such remarks had shocked the entire nation.
Murad also directed his criticism towards the show itself, expressing disappointment that it allowed such abusive language. He added that society considers parents as God, and using such obscene language about them is not only disrespectful but also against Indian laws. “Such shows should be banned,” he said, stressing that freedom of speech does not include the right to spread obscenity.
Following the backlash, Allahbadia issued an apology. He admitted that his comment was inappropriate, insensitive, and lacked humor. In a video posted on his X account, Allahbadia apologized for his lapse in judgment, admitting that comedy is not his forte and promising to use his platform more responsibly, especially considering his influence on younger audiences. He also requested that the producers of the show remove the offensive sections from the episode.
In response to the incident, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has summoned Allahbadia, Samay Raina, and others involved in the controversy for a hearing scheduled on February 17 in New Delhi. The NCW has taken serious note of the derogatory remarks, calling them a violation of respect and dignity, particularly in a society that upholds equality and mutual respect.
Additionally, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has demanded an immediate ban on the show, criticizing Allahbadia’s comments for going against societal and family values. The association has also urged the Indian film industry to boycott anyone associated with the show.
Meanwhile, the Mumbai Police visited the residence of Allahbadia after a formal complaint was filed against him and other participants. The situation has led to significant backlash and calls for legal action against those involved. Lawyers representing Ashish Chanchlani also arrived at the Khar Police Station, where the studio of the show is located.
The controversy has sparked widespread debates on the responsibility of content creators and the boundaries of humor on public platforms.
