Speculation around Ravindra Jadeja’s future in ODIs has intensified after a tweet by his former India U19 teammate Shreevats Goswami went viral during the third ODI against New Zealand. The tweet suggested that the ongoing match at Holkar Stadium in Indore could potentially be Jadeja’s last 50-over appearance for India.

Jadeja featured in all three ODIs of the home series against New Zealand but endured a disappointing run with the ball, failing to pick up a single wicket. In the series decider, the left-arm spinner bowled six overs and conceded 41 runs without success. He had bowled nine and eight overs in the first two matches respectively, again remaining wicketless.
The lack of impact is not limited to the series alone. In his last six ODI appearances for India, Jadeja has managed just one wicket, a return that has drawn criticism from fans and analysts alike. Questions have also been raised about his place in the playing XI, especially with limited contributions from his batting in recent matches.
Amid this backdrop, Goswami, who was part of India’s victorious 2008 U19 World Cup squad alongside Jadeja, posted on X that he sensed the New Zealand series decider might mark the veteran all-rounder’s final ODI outing. He urged fans to celebrate Jadeja’s contributions before a possible “silent exit,” noting that India’s next ODI assignment is scheduled only in June against England in England.
While there has been no official word from Jadeja or the BCCI regarding retirement, the tweet has fuelled widespread debate about whether the team management is preparing to move on from the experienced all-rounder in the 50-over format.
