Patna (Bihar) [India]: Senior BJP leader and Member of Parliament Ravi Shankar Prasad on Saturday said he is honoured to represent India abroad as part of the all-party delegation tasked with conveying the country’s firm stance on terrorism, particularly in the context of Operation Sindoor.
Speaking to media, Prasad welcomed the government’s inclusive approach:
“This is a great foresight of the government of India and particularly the Prime Minister that he has trusted members of parliament of all political parties to go and convey to the world the strategy of India for peace and tough action against terrorism.”
Highlighting the global threat of terrorism and India’s firm resolve, he added:
“Terrorism is a global curse. I am happy that the PM has chosen me to lead one of the delegations and I have been conveyed by the sources that I will be going to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Algeria with my colleagues.”
Calling out Pakistan’s role in terror activities, he said:
“…Why is it that wherever there is any global terrorism, some needle of suspicion is there in Pakistan… We will convey India’s concerns.”
The Indian government has selected a seven-member, all-party delegation that will travel to various world capitals starting May 23, in a 10-day diplomatic outreach effort. The goal is to reinforce India’s zero-tolerance message against terrorism in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 people, and the subsequent precision strikes by India on May 7 targeting terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
The delegation leaders are:
- Shashi Tharoor (Congress)
- Ravi Shankar Prasad (BJP)
- Sanjay Kumar Jha (JDU)
- Baijayant Panda (BJP)
- Kanimozhi Karunanidhi (DMK)
- Supriya Sule (NCP-SP)
- Shrikant Eknath Shinde (Shiv Sena)
Earlier, Supriya Sule had accepted the responsibility, stating:
“I am honoured to join the all-party delegation representing India on the global stage. I humbly accept this responsibility and thank Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Minister Kiren Rijiju ji and the Ministry of External Affairs. I am deeply grateful to the people of Baramati Lok Sabha constituency for your continued support. Our mission is to convey India’s united and unwavering message of zero tolerance against terrorism. We stand as one nation–proud, strong, and unwavering. Jai Hind.”
The delegations will visit countries including the United States, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, South Africa, Japan, and the Middle East, where Ravi Shankar Prasad’s group is set to travel.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju is leading the coordination effort, calling this initiative a landmark in bipartisan diplomacy:
“In moments that matter most, Bharat stands united. Seven All-Party Delegations will soon visit key partner nations, carrying our shared message of zero tolerance to terrorism. A powerful reflection of national unity above politics, beyond differences.”
This marks the first time the Indian government has deputed MPs from multiple parties to advocate India’s global position on Kashmir and cross-border terrorism.
