Ranvir Shorey Opens Up on Dating Apps, Co-Parenting With Konkona Sen Sharma, and Choosing Separation for His Son’s Well-Being

Actor Ranvir Shorey has shared an honest glimpse into his personal journey, discussing dating, co-parenting, and the decisions that shaped his life after separating from former wife and actor Konkona Sen Sharma. The pair, who married in 2010 and divorced in 2015, continue to jointly raise their 14-year-old son, Haroon.

In a conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Shorey emphasized the importance of maintaining healthy boundaries with former partners. He believes excessive friendliness with an ex can cause instability in current relationships. “You should not be so in touch that it makes your present partner uncomfortable,” he said, noting that while courtesy is fine, involvement should not extend to where an ex begins to feel like family again.

Ranvir Shorey on Using Dating Apps

Shorey admitted he uses dating apps and approaches them with a practical mindset. He said that expectations in dating vary depending on one’s stage in life. “Requirements in a match differ from person to person. For me, as a divorced single father, they would be different from what a 30-year-old would have,” he explained. His son remains central to most of his decisions, including dating.

Raising His Son After Divorce

Reflecting on his separation, Shorey said the couple experienced issues even before Haroon turned four. He chose to wait until the right time to move forward with separation, keeping his child’s emotional security in mind. “I sought separation at the right age for him,” he said. “I waited till he was 4 years old. I felt that later in life, it would have a stronger impact on him.”

He described Haroon’s age at the time as “malleable,” allowing a smoother transition during the changes in their family structure. Shorey believes that separating when his son was still young helped cushion the emotional blow.

On the professional front, the actor is preparing to reprise his role as Chote Dawaan in the upcoming second season of Bindiya Ke Bahubali, which returned this year on Amazon MX Player.
