Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar’ Defies Avatar Hype, Nears ₹800 Crore Milestone on Day 16

In a remarkable display of box-office resilience, Ranveer Singh’s spy thriller Dhurandhar saw a massive resurgence during its third weekend. Despite the global release of Avatar: Fire and Ash, the Aditya Dhar directorial registered a significant 50% jump in domestic collections on Saturday, firmly establishing itself as a historic success.

Breaking Domestic Records

By its 16th day, Dhurandhar earned ₹33.50 crore net in India, pushing its total domestic haul to ₹516.50 crore. This achievement is particularly noteworthy as it makes the film only the seventh Hindi production to enter the prestigious ₹500-crore club. Furthermore, it has officially become the fastest Hindi film to reach this milestone, surpassing the records previously held by blockbusters like Jawan and Stree 2.

Global Domination

On the international front, the film continues to perform strongly. Despite facing stiff competition from the Avatar sequel, Dhurandhar has amassed approximately $18.5 million overseas. This brings its total worldwide gross to ₹785 crore.

Industry experts predict the film will overtake Chhaava (₹807 crore) by Sunday. It is now eyeing the top spot for 2025, currently held by Kantara Chapter 1 (₹852 crore), to become the highest-grossing Indian film of the year.

About the Film

Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar features Ranveer Singh as Hamza, an undercover Indian operative in Karachi. The film boasts a high-profile ensemble cast including Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, and R Madhavan. After a modest opening, the film’s trajectory was fueled by exceptional word-of-mouth. Fans can look forward to more action, as Part 2 is already scheduled for a March 2026 release.
