Anand Ramanand Sagar Chopra, the son of legendary filmmaker and Ramayan creator Ramanand Sagar, passed away on Friday at the age of 84. Anand had reportedly been unwell for several years and was battling Parkinson’s disease.
His funeral was held in Mumbai at around 4:30 PM, with family members and close associates paying their final respects.
Confirming the news, the Sagar family issued a statement expressing their grief. “It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our dear father Anand Ramanand Sagar Chopra. Your prayers and blessings for his peaceful journey are sincerely appreciated,” the family said in their message.
Anand Sagar Chopra belonged to the renowned Sagar family, known for its significant contribution to Indian cinema and television. His father, Ramanand Sagar, remains one of India’s most celebrated filmmakers, especially remembered for the iconic television series Ramayan, which became a cultural phenomenon across the country.
