New Delhi [India], May 31: Renowned for his impeccable comic timing in films like Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Chup Chup Ke, and Bhagam Bhag, actor Rajpal Yadav has weighed in on Bollywood’s growing trend of sequels and remakes.
In an interview, Yadav dismissed the fear associated with sequels not living up to the original, saying that every film is a new opportunity — for filmmakers, audiences, and actors alike.
“Darne se kya fayeda. Bana hi daali hai toh flop hojaegi, isse jyada kya hojaega… Toh cinema jab bhi banein, toh naya bane.”
(“What’s the point of being scared? If it’s already made, at worst it will flop — what else can happen? A film requires investment, audiences get to see something new, and actors get to explore new characters. Cinema should always aim to offer something new.”)
His views arrive amid a surge of big-ticket Bollywood sequels such as Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Hera Pheri 3, and Housefull 5, all set for release in the coming months.
Yadav, who started his journey with a breakthrough role in a Ram Gopal Varma film, has since carved a niche in Indian cinema with a flair for slapstick comedy and endearing character roles. His filmography includes hits like Ek Aur Ek Gyarah, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, and Hungama.
What’s Next for Rajpal Yadav?
Up next, the actor will star in ‘Bhooth Bangla’, a horror-comedy helmed by Priyadarshan and featuring Akshay Kumar in the lead. The film is already generating buzz, marking the return of the successful Akshay-Priyadarshan combo after 15 years.
With his trademark humor and grounded perspective, Rajpal Yadav continues to charm audiences — reminding everyone that, hit or flop, the spirit of cinema lies in storytelling and experimentation.
