Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Lauds INSV Tarini Crew As A Symbol Of Nari Shakti On Eve Of International Women’s Day

New Delhi [India]: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised the crew of Navika Sagar Parikrama II for their remarkable journey aboard INSV Tarini, describing it as a powerful symbol of Nari Shakti (women’s power). The interaction took place on the eve of International Women’s Day.

In a message shared on X (formerly Twitter), Rajnath Singh stated:
“On the eve of International Women’s Day, I interacted with the amazing Navika Sagar Parikrama II crew. Their courageous journey aboard INSV Tarini, tackling the immense challenge of circumnavigating the globe, stands as a beacon of Nari Shakti.”

He lauded the crew’s unwavering resilience, calm demeanor, and meticulous approach in handling extended periods of harsh maritime conditions while covering thousands of nautical miles.
“As a proud Nation, we celebrate their unparalleled achievements and extend our heartfelt wishes for the successful completion of this remarkable expedition,” Singh added.

The Navika Sagar Parikrama II mission, an initiative by the Indian Navy, aims to encourage women empowerment by showcasing the strength and capabilities of women officers in overcoming challenges at sea.


PM Modi to Attend ‘Lakhpati Didi Sammelan’ in Gujarat on International Women’s Day

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Navsari district, Gujarat on March 8, coinciding with International Women’s Day. During his visit, he will preside over the ‘Lakhpati Didi Sammelan’ at Vansi-Borsi and disburse over Rs 450 crore in financial assistance to more than 2.5 lakh women from over 25,000 Self-Help Groups (SHGs) across the state, as per an official release.

This event is part of the ‘Lakhpati Didi Yojana’, launched by PM Modi on August 15, 2023, aimed at promoting women’s entrepreneurship and financial empowerment.
Under this initiative, women members of SHGs earning Rs 10,000 or more per month and having an annual income of at least Rs 1 lakh through various sources like agriculture, animal husbandry, and small industries are recognized as ‘Lakhpati Didis’.

International Women’s Day, celebrated globally on March 8, highlights the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. This year, the government’s focus on recognizing and promoting women’s contributions through initiatives like the Lakhpati Didi Yojana and Navika Sagar Parikrama underscores a commitment to women’s empowerment in diverse fields.

As the nation celebrates Nari Shakti, the accomplishments of the INSV Tarini crew and the financial empowerment of women under the Lakhpati Didi Yojana serve as inspiring examples of the potential and resilience of women in India.
