Rajnath Singh Highlights New Age Warfare Challenges, Visits Army War College in Mhow

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh underscored the growing challenges posed by unconventional warfare methods while addressing senior Army officers at the Army War College in Mhow.

Unconventional Warfare Challenges:
Rajnath Singh emphasized the increasing complexity of modern warfare, highlighting threats such as:

  • Information Warfare
  • AI-Based Warfare
  • Proxy Warfare
  • Electro-Magnetic Warfare
  • Space Warfare
  • Cyber-Attacks

He also pointed out concerns over:

  • The dominance of specific nations in electronic chip availability
  • Monopoly over rare earth materials
  • The emergence of hybrid and grey zone warfare

“In this challenging situation, it becomes necessary that the Indian Army remains well-trained and equipped for all such scenarios,” Singh stated.


First Ministerial Visit in 24 Years:
This marked the first visit by a Defence Minister to the Army War College in 24 years. Singh lauded the role of Mhow’s training institutions, emphasizing their contribution to preparing the armed forces for modern challenges.

“Mhow has been known for its military valour for over 200 years. It is great to see the training centres here playing a pivotal role in preparing our forces,” he added.


Government Efforts and Vision 2047:
Singh reiterated the government’s focus on enhancing integration and jointness among the three armed forces to address future challenges collaboratively.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set a target to make India a developed nation by 2047, viewing this time as a transition period. Militarily, we are equipping our forces with modern weapons and even exporting indigenous equipment to other nations,” he noted.


Two-Day Visit and Tribute to Dr. BR Ambedkar:
The Defence Minister was on a two-day visit to three premier training institutions in Mhow:

  • Army War College (AWC)
  • Infantry School
  • Military College of Telecommunication and Engineering (MCTE)

On Sunday, Singh visited the Bhim Janm Bhoomi, a memorial dedicated to Dr. BR Ambedkar, paying homage to the architect of the Indian Constitution. He described Dr. Ambedkar as a symbol of selfless service, dedicated to achieving social equality and empowerment.


This visit underlines the government’s focus on equipping the armed forces for evolving threats while honoring the nation’s rich heritage.
