Rajnath Singh Highlights BrahMos Missile Success During Lucknow Event Honouring Ex-UP CM Chandra Bhanu Gupta

Defence minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday said that the BrahMos Missile played a “miraculous” role during Operation Sindoor, the Indian Army’s response to the Pahalgam terror attack in Kashmir. He revealed that 14-15 countries have now shown interest in acquiring the missile, reflecting global trust in India’s indigenous defence capabilities.

Singh made the remarks at a commemorative event in Lucknow, his Lok Sabha constituency, where he released a postage stamp dedicated to former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Chandra Bhanu Gupta (1902–1980) at National PG College.

“During Operation Sindoor, BrahMos Missile achieved a miraculous feat. Now, around 14-15 countries want to have this missile,” said Singh.

The defence minister also highlighted that BrahMos missiles will now be produced in Lucknow, generating employment and boosting local industry. He, along with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, had recently inaugurated the BrahMos facility in the city.

“The BrahMos plant will also generate employment for locals,” he said.

Tribute to Chandra Bhanu Gupta

On the occasion of Gupta’s birth anniversary, Singh inaugurated a hall and offered floral tributes to the late leader’s statue. Recalling Gupta’s contributions, Singh praised his legacy of service, simplicity, and integrity.

“The former CM not only addressed a rally in my support but also provided a financial assistance of ₹5000,” Singh shared, reminiscing about Gupta’s support during his first assembly election campaign in Mirzapur at the age of 26.

“Whenever the glorious history of Uttar Pradesh is discussed, Chandra Bhanu Gupta’s name is always mentioned prominently,” he added.

Singh also lauded the improved law and order in the state under the current BJP-led government.

“Uttar Pradesh is writing a new chapter today in every aspect, including law and order. No criminal can roam freely now,” he stated.
